The MEGA Dream ex booster box is the Japanese M2a High Class Pack released as part of the Pokémon Card Game MEGA series. Released in Japan on November 28, 2025, MEGA Dream ex combines newly introduced Mega Evolution Pokémon ex with popular cards returning from previous expansions. Each booster pack contains 10 randomly inserted cards, including at least one Pokémon ex or Mega Evolution Pokémon ex.

Official Pokémon Card Game — MEGA Dream ex

A High Class Pack Built Around Mega Evolution

Unlike the regular M1 and M2 expansion boxes, M2a MEGA Dream ex is a Japanese High Class Pack.

The set was created to bring together powerful and popular Pokémon cards while introducing additional Mega Evolution cards. The official Pokémon Card Game information highlights new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, special mirror cards, and premium AR and SAR artwork.

This makes M2a particularly attractive for collectors who want a concentrated Japanese Mega Evolution release rather than a standard expansion.

Mega Dragonite ex Makes Its Debut

One of the major new Pokémon in MEGA Dream ex is Mega Dragonite ex.

The set introduces Mega Dragonite ex as a new Mega Evolution Pokémon, alongside its Dragonite evolutionary line. The official Pokémon information specifically highlights Dratini → Dragonair → Mega Dragonite ex as one of the featured new Mega Evolution lines.

Mega Dragonite gives M2a a particularly strong headline Pokémon because Dragonite is one of the most recognizable Pokémon from the original generations.

New Mega Evolution Pokémon

MEGA Dream ex expands the Mega Evolution lineup with several new cards.

Featured Mega Pokémon include:

• Mega Dragonite ex

• Mega Ampharos ex

• Mega Froslass ex

• Mega Eelektross ex

• Mega Scrafty ex

• Mega Hawlucha ex

• Mega Diancie ex

• Mega Gengar ex

• Mega Gardevoir ex

• Mega Lucario ex

The official card database confirms examples such as Mega Eelektross ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex as M2a cards.

The New MA Rarity

One of the most important features of MEGA Dream ex is the introduction of a new rarity called MA — Mega Attack Rare.

MA cards feature Mega Evolution Pokémon ex with specially designed artwork centered around their attacks. The official Pokémon product information introduces this new rarity as part of M2a.

The MA lineup includes high-profile Mega Pokémon such as:

• Mega Charizard X ex

• Mega Lucario ex

• Mega Gardevoir ex

• Mega Gengar ex

• Mega Dragonite ex

This gives M2a a completely different premium-card identity from the earlier M1 and M2 expansions.

Popular Cards Return

MEGA Dream ex isn’t solely a collection of new cards.

The Japanese High Class Pack also reprints powerful cards that have been useful in previous Pokémon TCG events and decks. This makes the set relevant to both collectors and players.

The set also contains cards supporting existing Pokémon strategies, including N’s Pokémon and Team Rocket’s Pokémon.

Special Mirror Cards

M2a includes premium mirror-holo style cards featuring different patterns.

The official Pokémon Card Game website specifically highlights:

• Energy-symbol patterns

• Various Poké Ball patterns

• Special mirror finishes

Examples shown by Pokémon include Budding Bud and Team Rocket’s Murkrow.

These special treatments add another collectible layer beyond the normal rarity system.

10 Cards Per Booster Pack

A sealed MEGA Dream ex booster box contains:

• 10 Japanese booster packs

• 10 cards per pack

• 100 cards per box

Every booster pack contains at least one Pokémon ex or Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, according to the official Japanese Pokémon Card Game product information. The cards are randomly inserted, so the box does not guarantee a particular Pokémon, MA, SAR or other specific card.

This 10-card configuration is an important distinction from the 30-pack × 5-card format used by M1L, M1S and M2.

250-Card Collection

MEGA Dream ex has a large card pool compared with a normal Japanese expansion.

The complete Japanese set contains 250 cards, including its premium rarities.

That large checklist gives collectors a substantial number of cards to chase, particularly with the inclusion of MA, SAR and AR cards alongside the reprinted cards.

Mega Evolution Collectors’ Set

M2a brings together Mega Pokémon from different generations rather than focusing on a single region.

Collectors can find modern Mega Evolution versions of Pokémon including Dragonite, Gardevoir, Gengar, Lucario, Diancie and Eelektross in one Japanese High Class Pack.

This makes MEGA Dream ex a particularly useful product for collectors building a broad Mega Evolution collection.

Japanese Release

The Japanese release date for MEGA Dream ex was November 28, 2025.

The official Japanese MSRP is ¥550 per booster pack, with each pack containing 10 cards.

This product is the original Japanese M2a High Class Pack, making it a distinct Japanese release from later localized versions.
