Three Exclusive Kanazawa Promo Cards

One of the biggest attractions of the Kanazawa Special Box is its three included promo cards.

The box contains:

• Kanazawa’s Pikachu — 147/S-P

• Milotic — 145/S-P

• Sobble — 146/S-P

All three feature artwork connected to the Kanazawa opening commemorative design. The official Pokémon Card Game announcement confirms that all three promo cards are included in the Special Box.

The Kanazawa’s Pikachu 147/S-P included in the box is particularly important because it is a different printing from the 144/S-P Kanazawa’s Pikachu distributed to visitors at Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores.

Kanazawa’s Pikachu 147/S-P

The Kanazawa’s Pikachu promo is the signature card associated with this Special Box.

The Pokémon Card Game database identifies the card as Kanazawa’s Pikachu, S-P 147, featuring the Fuzichoco illustration and the attacks New Open and Pika Stroll.

The distinction between the two Kanazawa Pikachu promos is important for collectors:

144/S-P: distributed as a commemorative Pokémon Center/Pokémon Store promo.

147/S-P: the special version included inside the Kanazawa Special Box.

The box version is therefore not simply the same promo card that was handed out to visitors.

19 Japanese Booster Packs

The Kanazawa Special Box contains a substantial selection of Sword & Shield-era Japanese booster packs.

The official contents are:

• Rebellion Crash ×3

• Infinity Zone ×3

• Astonishing Volt Tackle ×3

• Explosive Walker ×3

• Legendary Heartbeat ×3

• Shiny Star V ×4

That gives the box 19 sealed Japanese booster packs in total.

This mixture makes the box more than simply a promo-card product: it is also a sealed snapshot of the Japanese Pokémon TCG during the 2020 Sword & Shield era.

Shiny Star V Included

Four packs of the Japanese Shiny Star V High Class Pack are included.

This is especially notable for collectors because Shiny Star V was one of the major Japanese High Class Packs of the Sword & Shield era.

The official Pokémon announcement specifically identifies Shiny Star V ×4 as part of the Kanazawa Special Box contents.

Kanazawa-Themed Card Storage Box

The product also includes a dedicated Kanazawa-themed card storage box.

The artwork was created around the beauty of Kanazawa and gives the sealed product its regional identity. Rather than using generic Pokémon Center packaging, the Special Box was designed specifically for the opening commemoration.

Kanazawa Deck Sleeves

Inside the box is a set of 64 Kanazawa Store Opening Commemoration deck sleeves.

The sleeves use the same commemorative artwork as the rest of the product and are part of the original sealed contents.

For sealed collectors, preserving these original accessories is important because they form part of the complete Special Box rather than being separate merchandise.

Pokémon Center Kanazawa Opening

The product commemorates the opening of Pokémon Center Kanazawa, which became the first Pokémon Center in the Hokuriku region.

The Special Box was released on the same day the store opened: November 20, 2020.

The Kanazawa theme is reflected throughout the product artwork, particularly in the Pikachu, Milotic and Sobble promotional cards.

Japanese Sword & Shield Era Collectible

The Kanazawa Special Box belongs to the Pokémon Card Game Sword & Shield era.

Unlike a standard booster box, it combines multiple products from the period into one commemorative package. This makes it particularly interesting for collectors who focus on:

• Pokémon Center Japan exclusives

• Regional Special Boxes

• Japanese sealed products

• Sword & Shield-era collectibles

• Pikachu promotional cards

• Pokémon Center commemorative releases
