Pokémon Raging Surf SV3a Japanese Booster Box | Garchomp ex & Gholdengo ex
Original price was: 112 $.84 $Current price is: 84 $.
Ride into the next chapter of the Scarlet & Violet era with the Pokémon SV3a Raging Surf Japanese Booster Box.
Released in Japan on September 22, 2023, Raging Surf is an Enhanced Expansion Pack built around powerful Pokémon ex, Terastal Pokémon and a collection of ocean-inspired artwork. The Japanese set contains 62 cards in its main checklist and 92 cards when the secret-rarity cards are included.
The centerpiece is Garchomp ex, appearing as a striking Water-type Tera Pokémon ex. Alongside it are popular Pokémon including Gholdengo ex, Tapu Koko ex, Jirachi ex and Groudon ex, giving the expansion a varied selection of cards to discover.
For collectors, SV3a is particularly interesting because it combines a relatively compact checklist with a strong group of Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare cards. For players, several cards from the expansion became useful additions to competitive decks.
🌊 A Different Kind of Garchomp
One of the most interesting things about Raging Surf is what it does with Garchomp.
Rather than presenting Garchomp in its traditional Dragon/Ground identity, SV3a gives it the Tera treatment, turning it into a powerful Water-type ex Pokémon.
The expansion includes several versions of Garchomp ex, with the Special Art Rare being one of the major collector targets in the set.
The change makes this more than another Garchomp card. It is a memorable example of how the Scarlet & Violet era used the Terastal mechanic to reinterpret familiar Pokémon.
✨ The Illustration Rare Side of Raging Surf
Raging Surf isn’t only about its headline ex cards.
The higher-rarity section contains a selection of Art Rare (AR), Super Art Rare (SAR), Super Rare (SR) and Ultra Rare (UR) cards. The complete Japanese release reaches 92 cards, despite having only 62 cards in its main portion.
Among the cards collectors may encounter are:
-
Garchomp ex SAR
-
Gholdengo ex SAR
-
Tapu Koko ex
-
Jirachi ex
-
Groudon ex
-
Psyduck AR
-
Paras SAR
-
Mela SR
-
Earthen Vessel UR
The combination of Pokémon artwork and Trainer cards gives the set plenty of variety even for collectors who aren’t specifically chasing Garchomp.
💰 Gholdengo ex and the Competitive Side
Another standout Pokémon from SV3a is Gholdengo ex.
Gholdengo’s presence is especially interesting because the Pokémon isn’t simply included as a collectible—it also became associated with competitive strategies in the Scarlet & Violet era.
The Japanese checklist includes regular and higher-rarity versions of Gholdengo ex, including 050/062 and the higher-rarity 079/062 version.
That makes Raging Surf a useful set for collectors who like products that combine playability with collectible artwork.
⚡ Tapu Koko ex Returns
SV3a also brings Tapu Koko ex into the Scarlet & Violet era.
The Electric-type Legendary Pokémon appears as part of the set’s ex lineup, while Jirachi ex and other Pokémon add further variety to the collection.
Raging Surf therefore doesn’t rely entirely on one chase Pokémon. Its card pool gives collectors several different themes to follow—from Terastal Pokémon to Legendary Pokémon and Illustration Rare artwork.
🐟 Pokémon From Across Paldea
The set contains more than just the Pokémon featured on the booster packaging.
Collectors can find Pokémon such as:
Froslass, Hoopa, Bombirdier, Gholdengo, Garchomp, Tapu Koko and Jirachi, alongside numerous other Pokémon throughout the 62-card main set.
That makes opening a Raging Surf box more varied than its name might suggest.
🇯🇵 ORIGINAL JAPANESE EDITION
This product is the Japanese SV3a Raging Surf, officially released in Japan on September 22, 2023.
The cards and packaging are in Japanese, making this the original Japanese version rather than an English-language product.
Raging Surf was later represented internationally through the Paradox Rift era, but collectors purchasing this listing are getting the original Japanese SV3a product.
