Pokémon S12 Paradigm Trigger Japanese Booster Box | Lugia V Alternate Art

The Pokémon S12 Paradigm Trigger Japanese Booster Box is a standout Sword & Shield-era expansion built around Lugia, one of the most recognizable Legendary Pokémon in the Pokémon universe.

Released in Japan in October 2022, Paradigm Trigger combines powerful Pokémon V and VSTAR cards with alternate-art and other premium rarities. Its most famous chase is Lugia V Special Art, making this sealed Japanese box particularly attractive to collectors hunting for one of the era’s most recognizable alternate-art cards.

Each factory-sealed box contains 30 Japanese booster packs, with 5 cards in every pack. That gives a complete sealed display 150 cards in total.

🌊 Lugia Takes Center Stage

The defining Pokémon of Paradigm Trigger is Lugia.

The expansion features Lugia V and Lugia VSTAR, including multiple higher-rarity versions. The standout chase is Lugia V Special Art 110/098, whose alternate artwork has become one of the most recognizable chase cards from the Japanese Sword & Shield era.

Lugia isn’t alone, however. S12 also introduces several other Pokémon with desirable V and VSTAR cards, giving collectors plenty of reasons to explore the set.

⭐ Major Cards to Chase

Some of the notable cards found in Paradigm Trigger include:

• Lugia V Special Art

• Lugia VSTAR

• Lugia VSTAR Gold

• Regidrago V Alternate Art

• Unown V Alternate Art

• Regieleki VMAX

• Unown VSTAR

• Regidrago VSTAR

• Candice SR

• V Guard Energy Gold

The set’s full numbered release extends to 125 cards, consisting of a 98-card base set plus 27 higher-rarity cards.

🏆 One of the Most Recognizable Sword & Shield Chase Cards

For many collectors, the biggest attraction of S12 is simply the opportunity to pull Lugia V Special Art.

The card is numbered 110/098, which can initially look unusual because the secret cards continue beyond the base set’s 98-card numbering. This is an important detail when listing the product accurately.

The artwork and scarcity of this Lugia card have made it one of the defining chase cards associated with Paradigm Trigger.

🎴 Japanese Booster Configuration

Paradigm Trigger uses the familiar Japanese main-expansion format:

30 booster packs × 5 cards per pack = 150 cards per box.

The cards are randomly inserted by the manufacturer. Consequently, individual cards—including Lugia V Special Art—are not guaranteed in a particular sealed box.

Retailer information indicates that a typical box includes multiple higher-rarity pulls, but exact contents vary from box to box.

🐉 More Than Just Lugia

While Lugia is the star, Paradigm Trigger has a broad Pokémon lineup.

The set includes Unown, Regidrago, Regieleki, Omastar, Armaldo, Stonjourner, Stunfisk and many other Pokémon. This gives the expansion a mixture of Legendary Pokémon, unusual species and familiar favorites rather than relying entirely on its headline chase.

The presence of Regidrago VSTAR, Unown VSTAR and Regieleki VMAX also gives the set a strong competitive and gameplay identity alongside its collector appeal.

📦 What Comes in the Box?

One sealed S12 Paradigm Trigger Japanese Booster Box contains:

• 30 Japanese booster packs

• 5 cards per pack

• 150 cards per box

• Japanese-language Pokémon TCG cards

• Original factory-sealed packaging

The specific cards are randomly distributed, so a particular chase card is not guaranteed.

Why Collect Paradigm Trigger?

Paradigm Trigger is especially significant for collectors because it represents one of the final main expansions of the Sword & Shield era and places one of Pokémon’s most iconic Legendary Pokémon at the center of the set.

Its combination of Lugia, alternate-art cards, VSTAR Pokémon and Japanese Sword & Shield packaging gives it a strong identity within a sealed collection.

For collectors focused on Japanese Pokémon products, S12 is particularly appealing because the Japanese box provides the original Japanese release rather than the later international Silver Tempest product.
